We spend 3 weeks driving from Guatemala to the southern edge of Nicaragua just before the Costa Rica border. We needed to be in Costa Rica for Christmas to meet my family and with so many borders to cross, we didn't have as much time as we would have liked. But we made the best of what we had and got to see some beautiful places in the heart of Central America. Central America Border Crossings ...

Exploring Baja California Sur In Two Weeks
For protection
Sure expensive, that way amount of people is control, without any negative natural impact, and using part of it for peoteccion perposes
The problem with that altruistic sounding excuse is that the number of people entering these places are not limited. I hear it all the time. The cost limits the amount of people. But it doesn't. The popular trails and waterfalls are over crowded. People still pay to go and no one is turned away as long as they pay. it's just profiteering. Because even the uncrowded trails that don't need protection still have pay walls. It's just become culturally accepted to profit from nature. If protection is really the reason, limit the number of people who is allow to enter each day. Set up a permit system and don't allow these places to be overcrowded. It won't happen anytime soon. There's too much money to be made. But that is what people who really care about nature conservation would do if they really cared.
Oev are such a better made camper. No comparison
A lot of people like to compare FWCs to OEVs. So here is my opinion on that comparison. They've only been building OEVs for 4 years vs. FWC's 52 years. Lite Industries has been building other transportation products for a bit longer but not the OEV. Because they have only existed since then, those inflated pandemic prices are the norm for them and they are still charging these prices even in these post COVID market conditions. When someone decides to develop new products they are supposed to try to improve on the original. Which is what OEV did and that's great. But there can only be one original. Time will tell who is still around in another 50 years. We have several friends who bought OEVs. One lives in it full time with another being an official OEV dealer. Neither of them paid full retail for different reasons. I don't think they would own them if they had to. Just my impression. They are well made but at twice the price, you don't get twice the camper. So definitely no comparison. If I had to put a number to it, I've been in a lot of OEVs, I'd say they are worth maybe 20-25% more. Definitely not 100%. Someone can buy a Grandby Flatbed like this one and take the extra $36,000 and immediately drive south for 2 years across the Pan American Highway. FWCs have proven themselves to be more than capable for a trip like this straight from the factory. Or for the same price, someone can buy an OEV Hudson Bay and just brag to friends and neighbors about how much better it is from their driveway. I know which options is more fulfilling for me. But if you've got enough money to do both, go for it.
Am I missing something? Where is Marlene?
Oh, there she is.
@@willpatrick8706 she's actually behind the camera a lot these days
Great to see y’all back.
Just saw your video im thinking of going to gozaga bay next week it would be my first time, whats the name of the place or is there just that one?
there are a couple of different spots in the area. This one is probably the most obvious one as it is right across the street from the only mercado and it is managed by them as well.
Nice layout but there's really no way to enjoy the view of the landscape at eye level when sitting at the dinette? Seems like the window height limits your view angle downward to maybe just the ground perimeter around the camper.
the window level indeed does not line up while you are sitting at the dinette if you are wanting to see views in the distance. we often just sit outside if the weather is nice.
Loved the video, especially Lucas's photos of when he was little 👶.
Thanks! He was crazy about fish!
👍😍😍😍
🙏🙏🙏
Great film guys!
Thanks buddy!
Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks for watching!
Maybe the warm humid temp down in Central America will be good for my achy old bones and dry skin. I have never had a desire to go down to Central America, but your video makes central America inviting.
it would definitely do the trick. not a single person we came across needed lotion.
I could have done without the pooping in the shower part of video as I was eating my dinner. 😳
LOL! I hope you were able to keep it down ;)
Really felt like you took us along on this journey. I do wonder if you worry at all about speaking critically about situations on a public platform?
Thanks. Not really though I have thought about it. If I was still in or planning to drive thru then it would be different. We are also a pretty small channel so no I don't worry about it.
Love this road
Create video thanks for sharing. Can you add an air conditioning or is it too late?😊
Thank you for watching! Not too late but there would be a lot of rearranging involved.
does the drawer raise the tray? I noticed there's a large gap above the cab to the bottom of the bed in the camper, and it all looks like it sits pretty tall. BTW, what rear bumper is that?
How much?
build one on their website: fourwheelcampers.com/
Ace to see your adventures guys, glad you're all well!
Question, have not seen videos of travel trailers down there. Is it feasible to take a 30ft Travel trailer to gonzaga bay? Been to San felipe Kikis before but never ventured to gonzaga Bay, thanks
Yes it's possible. Big rigs drive along this route. But it can be tight in some spots.
Great video! The Natural beauty and cultural traditions of the people there was amazing! I appreciate the share🩵
Thank you for the video. For the rear fan integration did you end up cutting the side bars or front runner sells an integration kit?
We added a few cut cross bar and tied them into the full length ones from underneath with some support members. I am unaware of a kit that contains all the parts
Great seeing you back in the van. Recently sold my 4WheelCamper and hope to join the Van clan soon. Kids are growing up! Safe travels to you and family.
I think you guys should make your videos like you used to. Less music and more just filming day to day life on the road, longer videos. Just a suggestion ❤
Thanks for your suggestion. Do you mean more like daily vlogs?
@@malimish yeah 👍
Basically I loved your Mexico videos from a few years ago. That’s how I found you guys actually, loved watching those they were super interesting
@@Aimesco I plan to do some dailies when I get caught up to more present day. Hopefully by the time we get to Colombia.
Oh man I missed you guys passing back through. Glad you got to enjoy some San Ignacio Sweets.
we would have loved to explore a bit more there but it was just so hot!
Very good review after almost one year of a family-of-five full time use. Hopefully Four Wheel engineers took note of your feedback. Thanks!
Thanks!
We''re heading to the area tomorrow! Glad this video popped up :)
I hope you enjoy it. Several of our favorite places to eat are also here.
Loved this one guys. Thanks
Thanks for sharing this. The Eastern Sierras is my favorite part of the world to visit. I am hoping to make the trip out there in summer '24. I am also looking at buying a Four Wheel Grandby as I get closer to retirement. Glad I found your channel again, I used to watch it when you were in the Airstream.
Thanks for coming back. That was a long time ago! You'll love the Grandby.
Marlene and her Dad, strong resemblance 🐦🐦 🌵
she's pretty much 50/50 between her parents.
The Bristlecone Pine Forest is one of our favorite places we've visited.
Bahaha Luka's tree commentary throughout the video is on point.
He is all about the side commentary!
Thanks for sharing another beautiful part of the world. Really enjoy your travels as a family.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
Love your videos, been following for a couple years and your content has made me wanna travel in a similar fashion! Did you create a video explaining how/why you started this lifestyle as a family? If so, I’d love to see that!!
thank you! We have done several interviews with people over the years that talk in detail about it. You can find them here. malimish.com/blog/as-seen-in/
Cool, I saw Methuselah in the video. He was Noah's grandfather.
Oh cool! That means we must have saw him as well
@malimish oh yeah you did see it.
Ah summer, I can't wait. The high desert is always beckoning.
Yeah I see the weather in CA right now. Looks pretty intense!
I tried going to the Forrest in the winter, was a bad idea and only made it about a 1/4 mile in snow before turning around.
I bet it's gotta be impossible to get up there in the winter. Right now with this huge storm it must be just buried

I didn't think american citizens needed a visa
It is issued at the border upon entry. Not a physical one but it is one nonetheless. There is no need to apply for one ahead of time. You get 90 days in he C4 (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua) countries. Similar to Schengen Visa Americans get upon entry to Europe. Except it is not valid for air travel, only land borders.
Love the 395. Definitely getting much busier than the old days but still a gem.
We always use to go in the shoulder season and it didn't seem so bad. Even this time in August seemed ok.
@malimish we try to go there every April, May, and September. Looking forward to your next video on ABPF.
Stayed here in Jan 2024. The place has improved tremendously, the palapa is now a restaurant serving breakfast and lunch (they have a fantastic cook!), and the owners are super hard working, friendly and accommodating. We'll be back and highly recommend.
That's great to hear. We saw them at a very low point just weeks after the flood.
Yosemite is spectacular, but to me the high desert of the eastern Sierras is incomparable. 🏜 🏔
I agree. That's where we will be in the next video.
Great video, thanks much! How long is that rig from Four Wheel Camper? Do you think a 22 foot long, 11 foot high van could do the same trip? (an AEONrv)
Yes definitely. The truck is not quiet as tall but about as long as your van.
Thanks much for the reply, really appreciate it!
Love the editing and beautiful shots.
Love the aerial views and all the pretty beaches. Thanks for all the fun as we experience it through you. God‘s blessings 🙏❤️🙏 and safety for all.
also check out northeast Calif / Modoc county
We have driven more or less the whole length of highway 395 from SoCal to Washington which took us right through Modoc county. We stayed at Goose Lake State Park in May 2014.
this is from back in our Airstream days. ua-cam.com/video/_DLF-cF465M/v-deo.html

awesome setup. the four wheel campers look very nice.
They do!
Can you share more info on flying with your cats and what is required to do so. Love the videos.
Will do!

Great video!!! Will you please share what you have on your van ceiling to hold on to your cameras? Thanks!
Thanks! They are just arca swiss mounts bolted to the shelf.
